The Last Faberge'

 The year was 1885 when Carl Faberge` was commissioned by the Czar of Russia to commemorate Easter with a gift to his wife. In true Faberge` fashion the first of 57 Faberge` Eggs as they were called was made. From 1885 until 1915 each year the Czar was given one of these most precious of gifts. Unfortunately the house of Faberge` never recovered from the Bolshevik Revolution and never again was an original Faberge` Egg made. The mysterious disappearance of 8 of these exquisite works of art remains a mystery even today. Each egg was so magnificently crafted with pure gold and the most precious of all the fine cut stones from diamonds, rubies, and emeralds all inlaid within made every Faberge` egg the most valuable piece of art that even today are valued at well over 100 million dollars each. Just think of what the combined value of those missing 8 Faberge` Eggs are worth today.


Who ever finds the eight Faberge` Eggs could conceivably control the destines of man.


On the eve of inauguration of newly elected President Glover Smith events were unfolding halfway around the world that would soon reshape the destiny of nations. The world that we now know it would soon be no more.


Chapter 1


It had just started to snow outside the White House where the new President was preparing to leave to the George Washington Hotel for the first of many Inaugural receptions when word had just reached CIA Headquarters that the Taliban and al-Qaeda reached an accord with Pakistan and North Korea. Glover Smith was a former navy fighter pilot, medal of honor recipient and survived ten months as a prisoner of war by the Taliban. Now at 63 with whitish hair he alone has the responsibility to preserve and protect the constitution and every American. The enormity of the realization of just how important his responsibility is had just hit him.


A real eminent threat to the rest of the world now is realized an hour latter when a hydrogen bomb launched from somewhere in the Bay of Bengal annihilated the most holy city of the Muslim religion. Mecca now completely destroyed with millions dead. Spurred by the continuing unrest in Syria, Libya and Egypt has ignited a powder keg of tension that at any moment could trigger World War III. What still remains a total mystery is who and why someone would want to start a world at war and risk Armageddon. Could it be the most violent ruthless organizations or nations are able to operate above international law. Who are the financiers of terrorism? The elusive answer to the mysterious benefactors of terrorism will soon be revealed in a most brutal and savage manner.


It's 11 PM the President had just been notified by the secret service that an attack on our armed forces in Kuwait had just begun. Instead of heading back to the White House to the adjourning to the War Room beneath the White House both President Smith and Vice President Nolan were immediately escorted to waiting Helicopters to board Air Force One. Without alerting the media or any one attending the festivities from the inauguration the most powerful men in the world suddenly vanish from the public. All ready on board the presidential plane were Secretary of State Eleanor Whitman, General Kane, [The first five star general since Omar Bradley appointed by the previous Administration] Senator Robert Goodwin [Chairman of the Armed Services Committee] and United Nations Secretary General Sergio Gonzales, a few aids and secret service agents Maxwell Goodwin and Lenny Wilson.


For several weeks the CIA had been reporting that something very Big was going down but couldn't put the pieces together to what, where and when all would take place. At 8 PM just 3 hours earlier the pieces fell together when the President was informed that an attack was eminent and summoned the most influenced and trusting individuals to meet onboard Air Force One.


Upon takeoff escorted by 5 F-22 A Rapture jets communications were pouring in too fast to actually count. Then suddenly the worst fear of mankind was realized. At precisely 11:05 PM Eastern Standard time Mecca was destroyed by an atomic bomb leaving over 2 million dead. In a flash the whole world became an enclave of terror. Without warning or any attempt to ransom the world into giving up billions to prevent this prelude to Armageddon an apocalyptic cloak of destruction shrouded over the Mid-East. Some where off the cost of Sir Lanka in the Indian Ocean was the origin of the most deadly attack on mankind since World War II.


The Find. Two Years Prior:


In the most barren of countries amidst the desolation and uninhabitable of areas 15 miles south of the Uzbekistan boarder in the province of Balkh, Afghanistan Noted Archeologist Herman Swartz began unearthing an opening to a entrance to what appeared to be a cave. Upon further inspection revealed that this cave was actually a tomb. A very large sarcophagus was found several yards from the entrance. Thoughts of wonderment like the great find of King Tut took hold of this expedition. Who was entombed here and when? Little did Professor Swartz realize that this was the final resting place of some one related to the last Czar of Russia. Upon further investigation both Professor Swartz and assistant Rita Scilion surmised that this tomb was over one hundred years old. The decorative markings surrounding the sarcophagus were unmistakable of Russian origin revealing that for over one hundred years this tomb could very well be the final resting place of someone related to the last of the Romanoff dynasty. Was it the famed Anastasia who most still think escaped the murderous Bolshevists in 1917? What Professor Swartz found inside the sarcophagus was not the skeletal remains of a young girl but that of an imperial guard and 8 of the most priceless of the Faberge` Eggs. Upon seeing what was there suddenly one of the Afghan guides quietly slipped away. Abdol Kartimiz {a secret operative for the Talaban} who was recommended to Prof. Swartz as a reliable guide. He knew the territory of Northern Afghanistan more than anyone else. So when Professor Swartz who originally came in search for gold needed a guide who really knew the landscape of Northern Afghanistan it was Abdol who was recommended.
